Ok, I'm tryin this Trillian because basically ICQ software sucks now...

It takes forever to add a contact in ICQ
Trillian adds ICQ contacts instantly...nice

I see that AIM can be used with Trillian
However, the connection manger has AIM and ICQ in the same field.

Can you only use one ?

Also, I heard that AIM routinely blocks Trillian access.
Does this affect ICQ through Trillian as well?

I know ICQ works through Trillion...That wasn't my question

I was asking if you can use ICQ and AIM

Also, if the AOL blocks on AIM affect ICQ since they own ICQ and AIM.

You can use both, just don't type an ICQ number in, and use your screen name. Trillian will know the difference. ICQ works fine now, however, AIM is being blocked by AOL. ICQ still works though. You're not going to get much use out of the AIM portion of Trillian right now.

I think I understand your problem cause I ran into the same one.
When I originally installed Trillian, I only set uit up for aol and msn. I could not add icq. The only way for me to have both aim and icq was to reinstall the s/w and then add both.
I looked in the prefs but the only option was to add a new icq account (once it was already installed).

Yes you can use all the clients at the same time. The reason why ICQ and AIM contact adding is lumped together is because AOL owns ICQ and they use the same authentication servers now. I guess it was just easier lump them together to save time.

As for the blocking, the only blocking going on right now is AIM. ICQ seems to be uneffected. The current AOL nastiness is that it lets you connect for upwards of minute or so then it kicks you off with a message from the servers saying you are using unauthorized software. Yeah, fsck you AOL! :| Anyway, here is to hoping they find a way around the block. I have been using quickbuddy until then.
