I'm going to be going to Chicago the end of July by myself. Unfortuanately, my 18th birthday is a week away. Am I going to be able to travel and board an airplane even though I'm not 18 yet? My mom said it's fine and you won't have a problem but from past experiences...I don't believe her. Can anyone help? :)

I think the hardest part would actually be getting tickets. But if you already had them, I don't see why there'd be any problems.

You should be alright. Make sure you bring all sorts of identification, and check with the airline if you need any sort of prearranged permission.

Uh...just bring your driver's license or state ID and you're fine. You're almost 18 and have never flown by yourself? Wow.

Just go up to any flight attendant and ask how to join the Mile High Club.

They'll hook you right up!

Nah, usually go with family. So if I just bring my license and they see I'm 17 it won't phase them? Plus my brother may be going. And I haven't got tickets yet.

Oh, where's the best place to get tickets? :D

When i flew to vegas three weeks ago, there was a 10 yr old on the plane by herself.
Her mother had to bring her to the gate, but once she was on, no issues.

The only problem you might run into is if you get stuck in the airport and have to stay overnight. If you are under 18 they won't arrange accomodations for you, nor will many hotels let you stay. It can be quite a pain in the ass, I've had it happen to me a couple of times (been flying alone since 15). Yeah, I had a 1hour argument once, they were like we can't take responsibility for you so you can sleep by yourself in an cold airport floor where you might get robbed rather than put you in a hotel like we did with everyone else:disgust:
And I always have the bad weather in Chicago, half the time my plane ends up delayed or cancelled.
