Question about Transferring Video Files

If I were to transfer HD quality videos from one computer to another via external hard drive, could the files be damaged in the process?

The reason I ask is because I transferred some HD videos recently, and the receiving computer played them back but with some hiccups in the video that weren't there before.

The PCs are also fairly equal performance-wise, and the receiving computer plays blu-ray just fine.

Different video drivers, resolutions or, playback software? Are you saying you moved the external drive from one computer to another?

I transferred the contents of the external drive onto the other computer, I am not trying to play the videos from the external.
