question about TiVo style video capture with WinTV (timer)

I have been using virtual dub to capture video, and everything works fine, but I was wondering if there was a way to set it (in virtual dub or some other video capture program) so it will begin capturing at a certain time and stop at a set time. In other words, I'm looking for a way to leave my computer running, and have it capture a certain show from 5-530, and then from 6-630, and havent found a way to do it other than manually. Tried the search, didn't find anything - - any help would be appreciated.
