question about the Star wars books and movies

My roomate and I were talking and agreed that Jackson's LOTR films were awsome, and made more enjoyable because we had read the books.
But, still we think the books are better.

What about Star Wars?
I just bought the book, Revenge of the Sith and I was wondering:
  1. Should I read it, or wait for the film?
Should I go back and read the books for the first 2, PM and AToTC
I was thinking the books might make soem things alot clearer, and therefore helpful in watching or reading, Revenge of the Sith.

i never bothered with the books. when i read LOTR and the hobbit i always thought "man this would make a great movie"

i never read star wars and thought "this would make an excellent book" so i never bothered with it. if someone gave me a star wars book though....id see the movie first.

A lot of us have read the OTHER books, but stay away from the new ones before the movie releases. To me, LoTR is unlike SW in that the book existed loooong before the idea of the movie, whereas Ep III for example, the book and movie are being released relatively close to one another. The following was created upon the original trilogy and other books.

That being said, there are lots of other books which make the SW experience more fun, but that's just the geek in me talking.

Back in the day, I bought the Return of the Jedi book. It just a typed version of the movie. The only thing that you got, was some insight into what a person was thinking.

I haven't read the Revenge of the Sith book, not sure if I'm going to before I see the movie. I did read The Phantom Menace before seeing the movie. There were things left out of the film that were in the book.

The Revenge book is probably the same, I'm sure stuff will get changed or cut right up until the release date.

until i was 13 i had read every Star Wars book there was, literally...100+....some were good...some sucked............this post has no point

For the new Star Wars movies, the books are written off of the movie script, so they're almost identical to the movie. Very little extra info is in the book. I bought Revenge of the Sith but I'm going to wait until after seeing the movie to read it.

If you really want to get a great book to read before the movie, pick up Labryinth of Evil. It's well-written and ties right into Episode III. It's literally the prequel to Episode III as the book ends with the opening events of the movie and a "to be concluded...". Well worth reading.

Yeah I avoid the books that the movies are based on simply to keep the element of surprise. As far as all those other star wars spin off books, I never bothered.

Does it fit between Episode 2 and 3?
