Question about the size of 4.7gb dvd+R..

Im planning on burning a complete anime series. I need to if a 4.7GB dvd+r can hold 4.7gb of data? i heard that the maximum size of data these dvd+r can hold was actually 4.37GB, is this true?

I saw an anime that was 4.43GB, im really wondering if it would fit, on a normal dvdR...

remember that 1GB = 1000mb to marketing and 1GB=1024MB to your computer

The most you can fit on a normal DVD-/+r is 4.5GB iirc.

The Anime you saw if it was a bought DVD and not a BURNT DVD was pressed = you can fit 4.7GB or up to 9GB.

4.37 < 4.5 = fit

i think its only 4.37 that you can fit, and DVDs unlike CDs... you really can't overburn and expect the disc to work.

I routinely burn more than 4.37GB on my DVD's and they play just fine.

yeah its actually 4.37gb. it just like hard drives, multiplying the advertised size by .9338 will give the actually when it is formatted..
