Question about the PCI-e slots/limitation on Gigabyte P55-UD3R

I plan to plug in one video card (GTX460) to the 16x slot, so it'll run at 16x - that part I'm good with.

If I plug in another video card (not the same model as the first one) into the 4x slot so I can have triple monitor support, will it reduce both cards to 4x? I'm not attempting to SLI and the second video card will be something slower/older, like a 6600gt.

I think it'll run at 8x/8x but check in the BIOS to ensure you have one running at 16x as primary and the secondary at 4x.

Someone else will probably put more information in about this though.

The UD3 is 16x 2.0/4x 1.1, the UD3R supports crossfire and SLI and runs x8/x8, afaik. Always got me why they even have the UD3 when the UD3R is like 5 bucks more and has better cooling as well
