Question about the P180

Is there some way that I can figure out if this Cooler Master power supply will fit in the P180? I've heard that some power supplies don't have long enough wires to reach all of the stuff when it's in the case.

From the pictures on the Egg and the CM site, the wires look a bit short. So I'd suggest the Enhance ENS-0560G, 600W unit from eWiz.com via Froogle (save a bit that way). Check this document http://www.enhanceusa.com/file/33_mech.pdf - with the pigtail lengths noted in squares to the right of each connector. Nothing like that diagram is forthcoming from the CoolerMaster web site. I don't know what you'd find if you went to the Acbel Polytech site which is who actually make the PSU you linked. The shortest length to the first connector on the enhance is 20" The ATX, P4, etc. are 22". The total height of the P180 is 21.3". A no brainer in my book. And here's the link to the spec sheet: http://www.enhanceusa.com/series.php?series_id=11#33 . Enhance OEMs Silverstone brand PSUs among others - they are serious PSUs.

I'm of the mind that CM's PSU efforts are more along the lines of cutting themselves a hunk of the PSU sales that their case sales engender - rather than a serious effort at offering top PSUs to match the high quality of some of their cases. YMMV...

One final tip: Buy from the manufacturer whenever possible - not from a middleman like CM or Antec. The mfr. would be more proud of products that sail under their own label. You can't beat power products from: Zippy/Emacs, Etasis, Delta, Topower, Seasonic, Enhance etc. It's hard to find PSUs under house brands from some of the major OEMs here in the States, but they can be found if one is motivated. Or choose one from a smaller label that OEMs from people like ChannelWell. For example, I think you'd have less chance getting a dud CWT PSU from XClio than from Antec. The small outfits like XClio don't have the price pressure that a giant like Antec would have. I'm of the opinion that price pressure caused CWT to find ways to cut corners on units made for Antec which they wouldn't be "forced" to do on units for XClio. For this reason, "the bloom is off the rose" on Antec PSUs. The PR problem this produced (I think) is the reason Antec started OEMing some top models from Seasonic. It's been many years since Antec OEMed from anyone but CWT...
