I heard somewhere that the nForce4 Ultra chipset supports SATA natively, and that I don't need a floppy drive to use drivers and hit f6 when installing. I'm going to be using an Asus A8N-E deluxe motherboard and a maxtor diamondmax 10 SATA hard drive (with 16mb cache :-D) I would rather just not even bother installing a floppy drive since i have no use for one and it's just more wires messing up the inside of my new machine. Any thoughts?

I disagree. A floppy is cheap, and it's a last resort way to boot a machine when everything else is failing. They're used by software for testing RAM, like DOCMEM and by many hard drive manufacturers for testing their drives.

I've lost count of the number of rescues I've pulled using a floppy with one resource or another, and I wouldn't want to be without one.

Well, he really *doesn't* need a floppy drive just to install XP SP2 onto a SATA hard disk, but I agree with ya Harvey - they can save your butt when things go south. I never build a box without one.
