Question about the new xboxes

I just got a new xbox (holiday edition) and its really loud. Both the cdrom and hardrive make a ton of noise. For a couple of weeks I've been using my cousins old xbox, its about 3 years old, and its much more quiet than this new one. The noise is really annoying, its almost noisy as my PC with 5 case fans. Is this normal or did I get a bad xbox?

My newer one is noiser than my old one but not to the extent that you're saying. You could try exchanging it. It definitely shouldn't sound like a jet engine
