Question about the new version of Kazaa Lite

I have downloaded and installed the new version of KazaaLite. When I try to run it as a normal user in XP (not an administrator) I get an error message saying :

Error opening 'C:\Program Files\KaZaA_Lite\db\data256.dbb'

and the Search and Traffic buttons are grayed out so that I cannot search. It runs fine if I run it as admin. I never had this problem with the previous version (1.51)

Has anyone also had this problem and what is the solution?

I never had Kazaa or any other file-sharing program installed on this particular machine. As I said before, I don't have a problem running it as admin - it's only when I try to run it as a regular user that I run into the problem.

This system is the kids' computer and I don't wan't to give them admin rights, apart from the usual reasoning of not always logging in as admin.

Try giving them full access to the KAZAA folder. If you installed it as an admin, they will still be able to see it and start it but may not have permissions for everything it needs, giving them full access to the folder should fix that. Or, if you have a FAT32 partition on the drive, you could install KAZAA to that and everyone should be able to use it.

They do have access to the Kazaa folder. It is a subfolder of the 'My Documents' folder which everyone has access to. Besides, this is on a FAT32 partiton; in fact all the partitions on this system are FAT32.

I have no clue on how to help, but when the Search and Traffic buttons are grayed, it means you are not connected to the Kazaa servers. They become available when you successfully connect.

Kazaa is spyware supreme and will never find its way onto any system of mine.

That is what I'm trying to figure out - why I can connect as Administrator, but not as another user.

Does everyone who uses Kazaa log in as Administrator to run it?
