Question about the mini (UPDATED W/ QUESTION #2)

Question 2
Ugh. I went through Apple's education store to get the 49$ discount only to find out they add sales tax - effectively making the price 600 again.

I noticed Amazon sells it for $579. I guess that is the cheapest way to get it to my door, eh? Any drawbacks getting it from Amazon instead of Apple?

Any other options?

TIA

--------Hi,

I sold a bunch of junk that has been gathering dust, and have finally funded my mini purchase. I get an education discount, so I'm looking at the base model for $549

The only thing giving me pause to the purchase is the RAM. I will probably play with 'light' photo editing, light screen recording, web browsing, managing my ipod, in general your average computer user. I may 'encode' some videos here and there as well. I'll use keynote alot as well. Do I really 'need' the 90$ 2 gig ram upgrade? I know these things are a pain to open - and truthfully, I'm not getting an Apple because I want to tinker with it. . .

If you guys think I 'need' 4 gigs, I'll add it. This would be my first apple so I'm just trying to feel this out.

I have 4GB in my Hack and it is great, but I had 2GB in my MacBook and frankly it worked pretty well too.
