Question about the Matrix...

Is there any special reason why the movie starts and ends in the same room, in the same appartment building?

It doesn't does it? It's been a while since I have seen it though. As I recall, the first scene is with Trinity in the abandoned building. The last scene is Neil and Trinity in their black clothes on the street.

While were on the topic, anyone know when Matrix 2 is coming out? Can't wait!

He's not in that room at the very end but yeah, it does kind of come full circle. I wish I could remember the room number, I'm fanatic like that. As they flip to the outside at the very beginning it shows a sign on the building saying "Heart O' the City Hotel." You see the same sign as he runs into it near the end, a little before the weird exploding agent thing. Don't really have an answer to the question, some kind of symbolic metaphorical thinger I'm sure. It's Neo by the way WviperW.

PS anybody know if the window washers in Neo's boss' office mean anything? Or are they just giving a reason for the later-referanced scaffolding?

I think it's just as reference to the scaffolding. Otherwise it'd be a little dumb to have him go out the window and what do you know? There's scaffolding there!

Unlike what seems like everybody else, hard as I try I don't see any &quot;deep meaning&quot; in this movie. Alice In Wonderland and neo-Gothic (no pun intended) imagery alone do not a thoughtful movie make.

Don?t know it you guys notice the discrepancy in the movie, but It seemed as if they shot the stairwell and the door way (hall) before the stairway in 2 diff locations. I noticed that the cat walked on red carpet lay on toped of B&amp;W checkered floor tiles, then the carpet was gone and only tiles when the scene cut to where the Matrix gang look at Neo &amp; what has happened behind him. (Personally I think it is real cheap of the film maker to leave out detail as such, because they could keep the continuity with eases by draw in the carpet with the animation talents &amp; computers that they have)

Room 303. At least I hope so, I've seen this movie so many friggin' times it's pathetic. As my first foray in MPEG4/DivX encoding, that should explain it all.

And Lowtech, the discrepancy you're referring to was intentional, to display a glitch in the Matrix program as it was altered (the building structure) in an attempt to ambush the team.

Yes, it's the same spot. In both instances, the camera sweeps over the vertical hotel sign outside the building. Room 303, the characteristic cables hanging from the ceiling in the hall.
