question about the Linksys router

when they say 1 port router, they mean that it has 1 port to connect to something(switch, computer etc.) and 1 uplink port for your dsl/cable modem, right?

also, on a sidenote, why is it that if i don't plug my dsl modem into the uplink port on my linksys switch, my computers can't see it? what is the difference between the uplink and regular port?

thanks 🙂

Yes, that's what it means.

Uplink ports are wired differently then regular ports because they are designed to run between hubs/switches/routers, etc.
