http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=27&prid=33 Its PPSX1 - EtherFast® 10/100 PrintServer, i have an HP PhotoSmart P1000. When i have it connected to the PrintServer box, can I still do my photo pictures etc.....?

because it says:

<< Note: To perform a full range of functions, most multi-function devices, also referred to as 'all-in-one devices', require a direct connection to your computer?s Printer Port. Some multi-function devices may work on a printserver, however, due to industry standards, they will perform printer functions only. >>

also, which would be better? the one above or this one

I believe what this is referring to is that a multifunction printer (one that has scanner, printer, copier all built into one) will not function properly. Just plain print jobs should work just fine. Personally I would choose the linksys print server because I have never had any problems with linksys products. My entire home network consists of a Linksys Router, Linksys 10/100 Switch, and 7 Linksys LNE100TX NICs.

I've got an HP OfficeJet K60 hooked into my SMC print server (part of the router), and all the fancy stuff will not operate....or at least I haven't figured out how. When I absolutely need to, I unhook my all-in-one from the print server and stick it on the LPT port. I almost never need to do this, though, since what I usually want to do is print (98% of the time) or receive a fax (2% of the time). Easy trade for me to be able to print from my laptops wherever I am in the house.

You are going to have to get a jetdirect print server. The jet directs will support all advanced functions of there printers.
