Question about the KT7A (raid)

boran

Golden Member
First sorry for the double post but I didnt seem to get any replies in the motherboard forum..

Well I intend of buying myself a KT7A (raid or not depends on the cash)
but when I look at the abit page of the KT7A it sais it can run athlons up to 1,2 Ghz, my question is :
can a KT7A run an athlon 1333 or 1400 ? (cous i'm getting one of those two .. probably the 1333 cous the 1400 is $80 more for only 66 mhz ...)

OR
should I buy a DDR board ?
Cous for the moment it seems kind of useless to buy a ddr MB, unless it will support the next athlon ..
some advice pls (taking into account that my budget is only $1200)

(but I already have a case (custom drilled and several 80mm fans, a DVD, CDRW, and 2x 4GB HD (which will function as a backup if I get the raid mobo ..)

thanks for any advice

I bought my KT7A when they first came out-so it has an early bios(ww I think)-and it has multipliers up to 12.5 so it should be able to run a 1662.5MHz(12.5x133)CPU. Hope that helps. 🙂

Dont buy a kt7a, if you want kt133a get an iwill kk266. Dont get those onboard ones, would be better getting a pci one. If you want ddr which I would recommend because ddr is the same price as regular pc133.
