is there any way to flash/upgrade the software of the canon a40 to make it record videos that are longer than 30sec? in ohter words, no resitrictions to the length of the videos>?

Oh wait...he only knows about buying the A40 - he knows nothing about USING it. Sorry, I can't answer your question - I just bought one for my sister but I'm not aware of any hacks for it.

hehe

its very annoying that all the of the clips are cut when it reaches 30sec...

i know the MAIN purpose of this is taking great pictures, but other cameras dont have a restriction on the length of the video(well its dependant on the size of the memory chip).

and all of the canon products are like that....but the newer ones increased it to 3 min....

i thought it was dependant on,, uh. what do you call it, memory buffer of the camera? i remember someone saying that it's 2 or 4MB. so unless you can physically increase it, no flash/firmware upgrade will make it possible to record more than 30secs.

That stinks because I got a 256 Meg CF card for it too. It take better video pics than a Video Camera. But only 30 secs :(
