There are two versions. One ultra wide, I think. The other one is Ultra, or wide. Can you guys tell me which one is better/faster? Thanks!

They are the same drive, but one uses a 50 pin interface and one is 68. The Ultra Wide is 68, and yeah the other is just Ultra but it doesn't matter. Basically the 50 pin (Ultraplex 40X Max) version is the regular version and is the one you should get. They perform the same, but some would say the Max version performs better due to more firmware updates, though I doubt the difference could be much at all. Great drive, I have one myself, very nice. Just buy the 50 pin Max version, it's cheaper.

I have the ultra wide version...except for DAE they are the same...the max however is 30% faster at DAE 31x vs 24x for the UW.

Yes, the 50pin is FASTER than the 68pin version.
Plextor tuned it to be faster (figured the general market would buy into a 50pin drive much easier than a 68pin, and they were right).

Go with the Ultra (50 pin), its better supported with more frequent firmware updates....

I have the 68-pin UltraWide .. got it way back when. I also heard the 50-pin has better firmware which yields better DAE scores. I would get the 50-pin.
