I understand that the NTSC is @ 60Hz and the PAL is @ 50Hz giving it better quality... are there any specialty TVs that move away from the standard? like does the SONY WEGA have this feature? Any reference on this would help! I'm just wondering because I like playing console games, hopefully you guys know where I'm going w/ this... looking for a cheap alternative than moving to EUROPE or JAPAN :)

actually in Asia you get TV's running at 100Hz. They have a clock multiplier to increase the refresh rate.
Also PAL TV signal has higher lines more than NTSC and therefore has more details.

The Hz is refresh rate at teh screen refreshes.. like that one of your computer screen.

Thanks for the help GOOD GUY... does anybody happen to know if the MONSTER S-VIDEO CABLE will give me a significant improvment in picture quality as far as gaming goes?

monster cables are overpriced...

svideo would improve quality significantly if you use the RF... cable... if you're using the composite cable (rca) you will notice improvements as well...

it all depends.

svideo is capable of higher resolutions =)

So lets say w/ a console.. would I see significant improvement from composite cables to S-Video?

You would see an improvement, but I don't know if you would call it significant. I know that on my PS2 it was worth the switch to S video IMO. The standard cable that comes with it is just so cheap & thin. Had sony used a better grade cable things might have been different.
