I'll keep this simple: I plan on buying Shift 2: Unleashed next time it goes on sale. However, under the "3rd party DRM" section, it says the game uses TAGES Solidshield, with a 5 activation limit.
So... I can only install the game five times, and that's it? I reformat my computer a couple times one year, then get a new computer sometime next year, then reformat a couple more times, and suddenly I'm screwed because by then I've installed 5 times already?
OR, do the activations reset? It doesn't specifically say. Chronicles of Riddick, for example also uses TAGES DRM... however it specifically states that the activations automatically reset as long as you don't have the game installed on more than 3 computers. So, if I have Riddick installed on one computer, then I buy a new computer and get rid of the old one, the old computer's activation will expire and I will re-gain that installation.
I actually don't have a problem with this DRM if it resets itself. Then I can actually install the game infinite times, as long as it's not on several computers at once. So which one is Shift 2 Unleashed? Does it reset, or is it just "install 5 times and then you're screwed"?
I also have this exact same question, but for SecuROM. Crysis Apparently uses this DRM. It's not TAGES this time, however, it still works on the same idea: 5 machine activation limit. Again... do the activations reset at all? Or is does it just install 5 times, and you're screwed? I actually own this game, and I'm pretty sure I've installed it ~4 times already (granted, not at the same time, but over the course of 3 different reformats and 1 new computer). So what about Crysis?
If these games only let me install them a certain number of times until they become unplayable, then that's some retarded shit.
Any insight is appreciated.
