question about tabacco/tabacco products

When you smoke, chew, dip or whatever what is it that gives you that buzz feeling?
I always thought it was the tabacco that caused that feeling but a friend of mine swears that it's niccotine.

so what is it?

I don't think people get 'buzzed' from smoking, however, it is the nicotine that is active.

WHAT chemical in the tobacco is giving you the buzz?
Answer: Nicotine.

Your line of thinking is akin to saying that it's not the caffeine in soda that keeps you awake, it's the soda.

i dont smoke often, so when i get a cigg it feels really good because i inhale a lot. the nicotine plus the lack of gives me a great buzz.

It is nicotine, which is quite dangerous neat.

In my lab we run nicotine analysis every so often, and when making standards from neat nicotine (pure stuff) you need to be very careful. It has a nasty habit of zipping right thru the skin and straight into the bloodstream and if I remember right elevates your blood pressure pretty darned high and basically over works your heart.
