Question about T-Mobile

If anyone that has an in with T-Mobile, could you answer a few questions for me. (I'd call but I don't have access to a phone ATM)

I want to upgrade my handset to the SonyEricsson t610 but I don't have enough tenure (sp?) for them to hook me up with a nice price. I'm considering starting a new contract under another person's name to get the phone and then do a transfer of responsisbility to put the service in my name.

Here is my concern, I really want to make certain that my "Customer Since" date is maintained as the longer you're a customer, the more perks you have. When I cancel my old phone and start this new one, will it maintain that date through the change?

Does this date really help in bargaining situations?

This may not be a real issue, but I've been a customer for going on 4 years now and I want to keep that if possible.

(Anyone know how I can get the t610 without going through all this hassle?? 😉)

I think it'll just say that you were an existing customer but that this new line was recently started/transferred. The best thing to do is buy the phone off ebay.com. I wouldn't go through all that hassle just to upgrade.
