Question about System Image Backups in Win7

Hello,

When I create a system image backup using Windows 7 to an external backup USB hardrive, can I make several image backups on the same partition?

Example, I create a complete system image backup on Jan 2010 to my external USB hardrive. Then in Feb 2010 I decide to do another complete system image backup to the same external USB drive on the same partition.

Can I do this? Then if I needed to do a complete system restore I can pick which image to restore from the external USB drive based on the the date the image was created.

Or, do i need to have a system image backup on individual partitions on the external drive?

Thanks!

When I make a new image, it always prompts me that it will overwrite the original image. I would say no, you can't out of the box...but there may be a work around that I don't know of.

Thanks,

I havent found a good answer to this either without just doing a few backups on a test drive.

I am looking at just having a number of partitions large enough to back up my system drive to. So one image backup per partition on the backup drive.

If you move the backup out of the WindowsImageBackup folder you can have as many as you like. Rename the moved folder into a folder with a date or version number (e.g. noapps20100211) and (wallah) you can have plenty of backups.
