sup ay'll

I just received my order and instaed of a 3 to 4 pin i got a 2 to 4 pin with only black and red cables, not the yellwo. my question is, can use these even though its missing the yellow cable? Whats the perpouse of the yellow cable, is it a feature or a necesity. Although the 2 pin side doesnt have teh yellow cable the 4 pin (goes directly into the psu) does, will this work? Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, i called newegg and since they sent me the wrong part theyre going to give me my money back and i can keep the converteers anyways. Newegg the is ish

All of the "3-pin to 4-pin" adapters only use two wires. The yellow wire from the fan is the rpm sensor. The yellow wire from the psu is the +12V. If you still want to use the rpm sensor you need THIS type of adapter.
