Question about style manuals (for my history class)

I got assigned a paper today, due on Dec. 9. The assignment sheet says to follow guidelines for endnotes outlined in the Chicago Manual of Style. I already have the latest copy of the MLA Style Manual (2nd edition of the most widely accepted style guide for most intents and purposes), and I'm sort of reluctant to buy the Chicago Manual of Style because it's $38 on Amazon. I already am going to buy Elements of Style (a little pocket guide for grammar, capitalization, etc...I'm a HUGE grammar nut, and I read stuff like this for fun :Q) so I'm not sure whether to get both books, or just one.

My main question: is there a place I can get the contents of the Chicago Manual of Style somewhere online? I already checked the U of Chicago Press website, no dice.

Just to clarify, I'm acutally a political science major, but this is just for a class I'm taking about American foreign wars in the 20th century.

I'm glad I'm in a major where people don't give a crap about stupid stuff lik that.
Yes, but don't you have to follow certain standard conventions for C++ style (# of tabs, spacing, variable naming, etc.)? It's the same sort of thing.
