Question about stocks

Ok, I have 80 shares of Verizon stock, I want/need to cash/sell them in order to assist in paying for school. I can access my info on transfering and whatnot with Equiserve(.com), I've been unable to find info on doing such actions. I have all the information I need about my stocks, I just don't know who to call/where to go in order to cash out those shares, can anyone shed some light for me?

Call your broker, but be careful about any additional fees for phone transactions. Can't you just sell your shares on monday, and transfer the money out of your account?

I don't need to RIGHT NOW, I'm just asking. I don't know how the process of selling shares works, and if I can do it online. I'm new at this and am unaware about having a broker...Equiserve is sort of like an online broker that can do transfering...I'll look further into it and see if I can. I'd just like to get this money within the next couple week.
