Question About Stock MOBO

I just purchased a Dell XPS 8300. It has an Intel i7 2600, Radeon HD 6870, and 8 GB RAM.

I am interested in updating the mobo and possibly the case, so that I can have more options for expansion. The current stock MOBO only has one PCI x16 slot, which won't allow me to CrossFire at the same speed. What options do I have for a nice mid-range MOBO. I would prefer to keep the stock case actually.

Also, how much more performance would I expect out of CrossFire 6870 x2. Maybe different manufacturers also.

Thanks in advance.

Just posted this in another thread where the OP is looking for a midrange motherboard (around $150) for a 2700k. Comment applies equally for your 2600.

I've had good experience with Asus. Any p67 or z68 will be fine. If you want to use the onboard video or SSD caching you'll have to go with z68. These are worth looking at around your price range:
