question about static IP

I currently have setup here a router/DSL modem combo with a switch connected to it and all of the computers are connected to that switch. My LAN IP's are all static.. so each computer here has their own static IP on the router.

what i want to do is setup another router/switch that can be used for visitors so that they don't have to change their IP address settings (keep it set to "obtain IP address automatically").

can i add a router, assign to it a static IP, then have it give each computer that is connected to it its own IP automatically? basically anything connected to that router will share the static IP on the main router?

I have an extra Linksys wireless B (befw11s4) router that i would like to use... so any tips in regards to that router would be great 😀

sorry if this is confusing; thanks in advance for any help 😛

Option 1. You can connect a second Router using the WAN port. I.e. you connect regular port on the second Router the WAN port of the second Router.

Doing so will create a second separate Network that can access the Internet.

Files sharing will work normally between computers on each network but Not between the two Networks.

The advantage of option 1 is insulation of the Visitor Network from your Network.

Option 2. You can connect the second Router as a switch and them you would have one Happy Network but will need to set the IPs in a combo of Static and DHCP.
