I already have a set of home theatre speakers, since my parents are getting new ones for their room, they offered to give them to me. Since these speakers are not meant for computers, is it possible to somehow hook them up to my computer aswell as my TV? What would I neeed and i talked to a couple salesmen and some told me I would lose sound quality if I hooked them up to my computer, and some said they will sound perfectly fine. Anyone know?

You'll need this to hook up your receiver or whatever is powering your speakers to your soundcard. They'll sound fine but you can't have them right next to your monitor unless you have an LCD.

EDIT: Oh and if you want to use the digital out on your soundcard you could do that too, just get the appropriate cable, be it the fiber optic one or the regular RCA.

Yep, that's the idea.

The first cable is a stereo mini jack to RCA.

The digital cable comes in regular RCA or fiber optic. Use whatever your soundcard uses if it has a digital port.

If there's an easier way to do this, someone please correct me. :)
