Question about Speaker Wire

Hey guys,

So I've set up my Z5500s to connect to both my new 46" LCD HDTV and my PC but now I have a problem. Because my sub needs to be in the upper-right corner, the rear left speaker's wire isn't quite long enough to reach. It is currently 25' and I think I'd need maybe 40' or more. The question is, does it matter what kind of speaker wire I replace it with (are there even different kinds?) and would it hurt if I went 50' to be sure it's long enough or would that hurt sound quality? Thanks!

Any speaker wire will work. With speakers like the Z-5500's I would just use 16AWG. No reason to use bigger.

On a side note, the subwoofer HAS to go in the upper right in your room I assume because it is the only place open. Note that a subwoofer does not have to be placed in this location if you go that idea from typical setup diagrams. A subwoofer can go anywhere(some places are better than others but it depends entirely on the room)

Thanks.

Yeah, I'm putting it there cuz that's the only place I can stick it. So any 16AWG speaker wire is okay? I was wondering if there was different brands/quality/etc. that I might need to consider. Would it be safe to assume that the cheapest 16 awg wire I find is just as good as the most expensive?

That is a good assumption 🙂

About the only difference you will see is strand count(how the wire is made up of smaller strands and corrosion resistance)
