I am donating my brother my p4 3.0 prescott soc 478 to him and i want to get a new board and vid card for him, i have the card picked out but i cant find a board anywhere that has a pci-express 16 slot for the card. i have seen them before but i cant find them anymore. any help would be appreciated 🙂

There are no motherboards that are both socket 478 and pci-express compatible. If you want pci-e, you have to get a socket LGA775 cpu and motherboard. AMD sockets follow the same pattern, s754 does not support pci-e, you have to go with s939. Sorry to disappoint you but that's how it goes 🙁. That being said, there are a lot of nice agp video cards out there and I'm sure you could find your bro a good one to go with a nice s478 board.

i couldve sworn i saw one though!! grrr i think it was an ECS board or something?? ill look into it though thanks for the help

It's possible they could have created a low bandwidth pci-e slot like 4x or maybe 8x but then again I've only seen those on socket 939 and LGA775 boards. You can ask someone else but I'm almost 100% positive there are no pci-e socket 478 motherboards.

That is completely wrong. Here is a link to a page on Asus site with 2 socket 478 and PCI-E and I'm sitting here with another that isn't even on the site, P4GD1 Link

Maybe a better response would have been "none that I'm aware of"? They are out there and they are available.
