I'd like to know why my SMC Barricade 7004ABR can't download at speeds faster than 250kilobytes per second (without the router i get 350kilobytes per second) when it's rated at 10/100 (the minumum speed 10megabits = more than 2 megabytes).
My setup is a Motorola cable modem connected to the 7004ABR at default settings with 2 computers connected to it via NICs and CAT5 cables (I also tried with 7004's firewall off, not sure if that matters).
Once again, without the router, with 1 computer directly connected to the cable modem I get a max around 350kbps. It's absurd to lose more than 100k, so if there's no way to reclaim that speed, I might as well return this POS.
Finally, can anyone recommend a few worthwhile low/mid-end routers that might make it into the Hot deals forum? (i.e. - less than $80)
