question about SLI x 16 mobos

For a mobo such as the Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe, would you be able to run a PCIe video card at x16, and a PCIe RAID controller (such as the Areca ARC-1210) at x8?

I really have no interesting in doing SLI, but I have yet to find a mobo with a PCIe x 8 slot...

would have thought so, I know that some guys have used the Abit KN8 SLI's 2nd PCI-E x16 slot for RAID & TV cards.
