Long story short...got too drunk last night, fell out of the car, and I think I dislocated my shoulder. I said that to the guy who was helping me, and when I woke up this morning, my shoulder joint hurts pretty bad, feels weak, and is clicking/popping a little bit. I have dislocated my other shoulder before in a boating accident last year, and before that in 8th grade. The pain I feel now is similar to that.

Not sure if there are any orthopedic doctors on the forum, but if anyone has any knowledge on the issue, it would be appreciated.

I just don't want to go to the doctor for no reason to get an x-ray and diagnosis. I can't tell if I actually dislocated it, or just slept on it funny.

Thanks.

Use/move the shoulder as little as possible or practical, take some OTC NSAID pain relievers if you can tolerate them and are not on other medications that could interact, if pain doesn't get better go to the doctor.

Take the pain. Unless your shoulder starts changing colours you'll be fine. Everyone knows this.

Watch the Lethal Weapon movies and you will learn how to deal with it.

Why don't most AT'ers just go to the damn hospital for something serious like this? If your shoulder is dislocated or damaged, and you don't receive proper care in a timely manner, the usage of that joint may be negatively affected for the rest of your life. Being that you're currently young and stupid, don't you want to grow to be old and wise...w/all your joints functioning properly?

Most don't go because they don't want to pay for it.

I had physical therapy for my dislocated shoulder. It's mostly better now.

I think you'd remember it if you did it.. mine was just dangling there until I knocked it back in which really sucked and hurt bad. .. I was a bit tipsy when I knocked mine out.. thank goodness because it hurt REALLY bad then.. and all I could think of was Lethal Weapon.. so I bashed it against the door of my boat to get it jammed back in. Me and a bag of ice were really good friends that night. I did go to my Dr. the next day or 2 once I got back home.

See a freaking doctor...

At the very least put your arm in a sling for the next week. I injured my shoulder a couple years ago, and the orthopedist told me that keeping it in a sling after the injury reduces the chances of a future dislocation. That being said I'm not a doctor, this is not medical advice, and you should talk to a real medical professional.
