Question about seti

Hi all
I have a question about my personal stats at OK's seti que. I currently have 2 machines running seti. I am on a dial up 56k connection. It seems that every time I log on my ISP assigns me a different IP address and as such the que thinks I have a new client running seti. Currently the que thinks I have 6 machines running when in fact I have only 2. Will this become a problem in the future and is there a way to work around this.

Since your IP ADDRESS is dynamic (changes from time to time) the SetiQueue thinks you are a new CLIENT each time it changes. The only work-a-round that I know of is to assign you a specific PORT NUMBER that only you report on. I don't think OrangeKid has the time or enough ports to do this for each person using his Q. I may be wrong and if I am I hope he checks in and clears this up.

I have a SetiQueue setup for my mini-team and I have had to assign specific PORTS to each of my CLIENTS (team members) so I could give each of them a unique name and keep their stats separate.

As Smokeball said, the Q thinks that each IP is a different client............this will not bother your total stats.........you will just get more work cached than you would if you were on a static IP. The old addys will just drop off after ten days....no problems there.

Sorry......just not enough time and to many people on non static IP's to do much about it......I don't think SetiQueue would handle it and the load on the machine would a lot heavier...........I could start to run into bandwidth problems myself 🙁
