Question about selling a used car in TX....

My car is registered in Louisiana and I have Louisiana plates on it, and the title of the car is on my parents name and they are in Louisiana. However, I want to sell the car in TX. What steps do I need to take to sell the car in TX? More specifically, do I have to register it in TX first or can the buyer do that at time of purchase. Also, since the title is under my parents name, how can I transfer it to the buyer without my parents physically being there.

Thanks

Anytime you have to give your address, make sure you use the LA address. If you put down a Texas address, they might make you register the car in Texas, and then the guy that buys will have to pay the registration again to get it in his name. Maybe it doesn't work this way in Texas, but better safe than sorry.

I moved to LA from TX, and I never bothered to change the registration on my car. I sold the car to my mom who was living in LA at the time. She gave them my LA address, so they made her pay the registration fees twice.
