Question about Secure Digital SD Media

I recently bought a Palm Tungsten E PDA, and for the first time had a use for a SD media card to put MP3s on to listen to on the Palm. So I bought a 512mb Kingston SD card.

The Palm recognizes it, but if I try to transfer files through the quick install to the SD card it seems to stall. I tried putting the card in a card reader on my PC, and it can see files on the card, but if I try to write to the card, delete files, or format it, it just tells me the disc is write protected. So basically, I can't do anything with it.

It also only shows up as having a 488mb capacity. Is that normal?

Does it sound like the media is defective, or am I doing something wrong here?

Thanks

Yes, but it's set to 'unlock'. And I tried it the other way out of curiousity and the same thing happened.

(should have mentioned this in my first post)

Hmm.. So does this mean that the Kingston brand is not compatible with the Palm, or that it's defective?

Edit: Wait, it can't be the Palm since Windows can't interface with the card well either. Sounds like it may be best to get it replaced and go from there.
