Question about scsi drives

I was looking to the Quantum Atlas 10k II 10k RPM scsi drive. Does this generate a lot of heat? Is active cooling needed? Also, I have an adaptec 2940u2w scsi card. Since this is an ultra-160 drive, would I see much of a decrease in performance? And are the pinouts compatible? Thanks.

The 18GB Atlas 10kIII is cheaper than the 18GB 10KII and quite a bit faster which makes it a no brainer as to which you should buy. The 36GB costs the same. If your case is well ventilated active cooling is not necessary.
