question about scarring

I got my tragus pierced in late december 2000, and it has since developed a bump around the jewlery as seen here. i have looked around and i think is it hypertrophic scarring. i went to a dermatologist about 3 months ago, he figured it was a buildup of blood vessles, and cauterized it. it came back about two weeks after the burn healed. i noticed the size changes with stress, and with higher stress it'll also go a deeper red colour. it's a bit of a nuisance, and if anyone has any ideas about what it may be, or how i could get rid of it, do share :) thanks

here's an idea: dont stab metal things through your head, and you wont have to worry about it.

Why the hell did you pierce your tragus? Why didn't you pierce something normal like your penis or something? :Q

Everytime someone posts something about tattoos or piercings, there's always someone that has to come in and post something negative about it. :|

Usually it's the same people too p*ssy to get it done themselves.

Have you tried calling the place where you had the procedure done and asking them? I'm sure they have "seen it all" and are more equipped to answer.

Well uh my post was just a joke. I don't really care if people have piercings. That said I would follow Yo_Ma-Ma's advice.

i called and they said it could be hypertrophic or a keloid, but it's a 45 minute drive and i have no car. i'm 90% sure it's no a keloid because it hasn't spread outside of the area of the wound, hypertropic generally stays inside of the effected area, like this bump has

keloid development seems dependent on your genetic make-up, you'll tend to develop larger scars than most, you need to consider not having any more piercings and cosmetic surgery is prob a no no for you too...

as i said, i highly doubt it's a keloid because i have many scars all over, and they are all flush with my skin. this is the first thing i have had like this(most of my scars dissapear completely unless they are really large and deep)

That, or they are comfortable with their identity and therefore needn't attempt to attract attention to themselves via body mutiliation?
