Does it do any EAX for games and if so up to what version? If the person could swing the extra cash, would the Audigy 2 value be better for the money?

If you're gaming, don't get the sb live 24-bit. It uses a cut-down dsp like the LS which is a software-cpu solution. It supports up to eax3 iirc but everything is software.

Get the A2 value if you're on a budget and have no rebates. The DSP of the A2 value is the same as the A2 Plat EX.
