I have a raptor 76g drive and upgrading my computer
my question is, can a sata1 port plug into a sata2 and work?
or do i need to get a mobo with a sata1 port?

you mean plugging a sata2 drive into a sata1 port ? yes it'll work at slower speed.. but you wont notice the big difference between 1 & 2 SO DOESN'T MATTER..

nah i mean the other way, sorry i can't write well lol

my ratpor is a sata1 wire

can a sata1 wire plug into a sata2 port?

Yep, it's the same connector, same wire, just different transfer speeds. Naruto isn't completely correct though; there can be quite a noticeable difference b/w SATA150 and SATA300, depending on what you do with your PC.
