Question about SATA port on MB

I'm installing a new GPU and the fan completely blocks the SATA port on the motherboard (microATX, very small board) that I was previously using for my hard drive (the only SATA drive I have in this PC; I don't have any other hard drives or optical media installed). Can I just plug the HDD's SATA connector into the other SATA port (MB has 2) without changing anything else? Thanks.

Yes, you can plug the connector into any SATA connector. Some SATA ports are 6GB/s bandwidth and some are 3GB/s bandwidth, so depending on your motherboard model, and hard drive model, you may also need to be careful to choose the correct port. But if you only have 2 ports, I'm certain they are both the same speed.
