Question about S@H

Hey everyone. I just joined Team Anandtech's S@H team, and I used the guide here to set it up, and now my question is this: this installation was different from the one that I originally used from the SETI@Home site, and it seems like it runs all the time (not only when the screen saver is on, like the other one did). Is this going to affect my performance when I'm gaming or doing other things?

Thanks for any help,

If you keep the client priority are low, game performance will not be affected as the client will give the mhz required as needed.

welcome to the TeAm buddy.
well don't worry about the client, it will only use the idle cycles your cpu throws at it.
to test this, run a game while running setispy to monitor seti
you will see setispy shows idle in 5 mins.

Regardless of which project I'm running, I always pause it or stop it when I want to play games; I'm a little bit selfish that way - I figure it's my PC and my CPU cycles and if I wanna play a game with it that's where I want 100% of the CPU power to be. ;)

Welcome to the TeAm. :)

Welcome Ariste! :D

Well, the screensaver one is darn slow! The one you're using now will finish the wu much fater. :D The fact that only the idle cycles of your cpu are used and the priority of the project is set to LOW, the game will take 100% of the cpu and the seti won't fight the game for it. :D

I usually keep the client running when I'm playing a game, but sometimes I stop it as well. You'll have to test it and see what works for you. ;)

Plz ask if you've got any more questions and don't be stranger!
