I thought NUT was referrin only to the best possible hand in that category only, ie: nut flush vs nut straight. So there could be TWO nuts on the table possible, if I understand it correctly.

it can mean that, it can also mean the best hand on the board too.

The NUT is the best possible hand with the given cards on the table. Having a nut flush means you have a flush with the Ace (or K, Q, J depending on the board) which cannot be beat. This is also the nut, but commonly refered to as the nut flush so that folks immediately know it was a flush that won.

It can also be used during the game to describe a particular moment. He floped the nut flush at that moment because the 8,9 could not be beat in any way at that particular time. However, after 2 more cards, the nut could be any number of things including 4 of kind if a 10 had come down. No 10, the the nut would be a full house if a pair is showing on the board. No pair showing, the nut for that hand is the highest straight possible (which would depend on the final 2 cards).

There are enough poker posts on this forum to justify the poster's use of poker lingo. Besides, its not like the lingo was that convoluted. Its not like he used acronyms like
TPTK, OESD, LAG, TAG, so forth.....

I'm not a genius and I knew what he was saying. It was definitely English and I understood what he was saying. And it seems like you're the only one here that didn't understand what was going on. :thumbsup:
