Question about rounded cables....

Ok, I'm going to buy some rounded IDE cables. They have 18" and 24". My question is this, is that length the total, or the length of the longest part? (SEE PICTURE IN LINK) If thats total length, then the longest part of a 24" cable would be about 18" and the shorter part would be about 6"? Any help would be great. TIA

Thats what I'm thinking, but I'm not totaly sure. And I don't want my cables to be short. Anyone have rounded cables that can take a look?
