question about resume

i'm getting my *ultimate* and *final* resume together and had a question...

should the skills section or accomplishment section be listed higher?

i say accomplishments because, well, they're your accomplishments

my friend says skills cause he thinks that a company would be more interested in what i can do for them than what i have so far...

what is your opinion?

tia.

I have several resumes, depending on what I'm putting in for.

I have one to give in case I'm up for a consulting or temp position. In this case, skillset slightly outranks accomplishments.

I have one to give to large firms, where experience and education outrank skillset(kinda telling you something about corporate IT eh?)

I have one to give to small firms, where experience and skillset outdo education.

--of course, each set of skills, experience, and training/education changes in each resume as well. I'm not gonna put Miva Merchant experience if they're looking for a unix admin.

1. skills

2. accomplishments

Most recruiters like my format where I list my skills/years used/self rated level. I actually got asked once to do that by a recruiter a while back, and have left it in ever since.

I would suggest in this order
objective
Achievement in general addressing how it relates to the objective
employment history or if you have little history use what you did that may relate like student body president
skills
affiliations
ref if you wish or on request

I hit the skill button by mistake oops

When I am looking at resume's for potential candidates, I'm much more interested in the skills than the accomplishments.

Just my .02 worth
