Question about Resolutions and Monitor Out Resolutions

Hey everyone,

I've got a quick question... I'm interested in a laptop that's got a ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 128MB DDR, it's got a 15.4" WXGA (1280x800) LCD.

Now, the question I ask... when gaming, I prefer 1152x864 as my resolution, if I'm using an external monitor with the laptop, will I still be limited by the 1280x800 resolution choice (on the Monitor).. or will the limit be the external monitor?

Yeah I know this is a simple question.. but still..
