question about replacing social security card

I lost my for i don't know how long. If I request a replacement, do I get a new number or do they assign a new one?
 
yeah you go to your social security office, wait in line for like an hour (hopefully) and they'll send you a replacement one in 2 weeks.

I lost mine and I didn't have to wait at all. It was pretty much fill out application and give it to them.
