40gb hardrive udma66,cd rom udma 33,a pci tv card and a sound blaster live i would like to get a new mother board (anything under 200£) and would like to know of any good types out there and Can all the stuff in my current system be transplanted across (i am a bit confused as to if my pc100 memory can be used in a ddr board) also would i get much of a performance increase?

I would make the change to ddram with your next board. 256 megs is plenty, and pc2100 ddram is as cheap as it will ever be right now. You can sell your old pc100 to make up the difference. You can transfer all your old components to the new system, as long as you format the hardrive and do a fresh install of windows.

does the pc100 memory still work in ddr boards?

The only board I know that supports both DDR and SDRAM is the ECS K7S5A ,it has both type of slots, however in a normal DDR only board you can`t use normal PC100 sdram, you must use DDR ram.

Info here on ECS K7S5A .
