Hey guys, I'm about to upgrade from a Dual Core Athlon AMD CPU to a AMD Phenom II X4 CPU. Now I've heard from some people that I just swap them out and it'll work perfectly, yet I heard it could screw with the BIOS of the MoBo. Which one is it? I'm just hear for clarification, thanks for any help in advance.

Depends on your motherboard model and what bios you are on. You may need to update the bios to support the new chip before swapping. Or it could be a simple drop and go.

How do I update the bios? sorry, kind of new to all of this haha

so do you now the model of your motherboard?!??!
if so go to the site of the company and download the newest bios. there also will be instructions how you can update your bios.
you need to download also a program to do the upgrade. so start downloading.

Yep, need the make and model of your motherboard if you need more in depth help. If you don't know then download cpu-z and take a screen capture of the mainboard tab.

The Op could download and run cpu-z.

This way he can have his model on hand also check on which bios version he has.

More then likely he won't even need a bios update but better to check prior to doing such a task.

If it works don't try and fix it:)
